How to Set up a Preffered Lane

To specify preferred lanes, you need to create a tariff specifically for the carrier. Below, we provide a step-by-step guide on how to achieve this.

Tariff Profile

Let's begin with creating the tariff profile; from the Rates tab in the Back Office, click on Tariff, and from that page, click Add New Tariff.

  • Start by entering the carrier you wish to add a preferred lane to. You can look by MC, DOT, SCAC, or name.
  • For your mode, select Truckload.
  • For Effective Date/Expiration date, the system will default the effective date to today and the expiration date to 20 years.
  • You can leave the service level in Normal.
  • For the Tariff Owner select the accounting organization or the parent account.
  • Under tariff settings, make sure to uncheck the Display in Front Office and All US Points options.
  • Click on the pencil icon on the name box to generate the name of the tariff. You will need to customize it after creating the tariff.
  • Last step is to click on Save and View Details.

Click on Edit Record to revisit and modify the name of the tariff.

Preffered Lanes

Towards the bottom of the page, there will be a button to include a new lane.

  • From the Tariff Lane Add page, select the Origin and Destination zips you wish to set as the preferred lane.
  • For Service Type you can leave it as All and Priority can be set to 1.
  • The Lane Calculation Type should be set to "Call," and the Lane Upcharge Type should be set to "No Upcharge."
  • Once you finish, you can Save or Save and New if you need to add another preffered lane.

How to Set up a Contracted Lane
