Final Mile enables you to manage the last-mile delivery process, including services such as assembly, installation, and inside delivery. By configuring a Final Mile tariff and linking terminals, you can easily quote, route, and track these shipments.
How to Use Final Mile in the TMS
Step 1 – Create a Final Mile Tariff
-
Go to Tariffs → Create Tariff (or open an existing one).
 -
Select your Final Mile Carrier from the list, or click Add New Carrier from the Master Carrier List.
 -
Set Mode to Final Mile.
 -
Ensure the Effective and Expiration Dates are accurate.
 -
Choose a Service Level, such as:
-
White Glove
 -
White Glove Assembly
 -
Delivery Outside
 -
Threshold Delivery

 -
 -
Choose whether the tariff applies to your entire organization or a specific customer.

Step 2 – Add Terminal Information
-
Scroll to the Terminal Information section.
 -
Link the delivery terminal from your Global Address Book, or click 'New Terminal' to create one.
 -
Fill in:
-
Company Name
 -
Address
 -
Contact Details
 -
Operating Hours
 -
Special Instructions

 -
 -
Click Save.

The terminal will now appear as part of your tariff profile and will be added automatically as a middle stop in the shipment workflow (Pickup → Terminal → Final Delivery).
Step 3 – Set Up Pricing
In the Lane Criteria section, configure pricing just as you would for any other tariff.
You can use per-mile, flat-rate, or manual calculation methods.
Example: $3 per mile.
For more advanced pricing scenarios that require a manual tariff, follow the steps outlined in this article to set one up.
Step 4 – Create and Quote a Shipment
-
Create a new shipment using the customer and lane that match your Final Mile tariff.
 -
Add shipment details and commodity information.
 -
Select the accessorial White Glove Service.

 -
Click Generate Smart Quote.

The quoting screen will show:
-
The standard LTL rate
 -
The Final Mile service option (marked with a White Glove icon )
 -
Buy / Sell Rates, Fuel Surcharges, and Additional Charges

Select the carrier and rate that best fit your shipment.

Accessorial Handling
-
Accessorials selected under Delivery Accessorials are always applied against the Final Mile Rates.
 -
If a selected accessorial is not priced within the Final Mile tariff, no rates will display.
 -
Any Required Accessorials defined on a Final Mile tariff will be applied automatically, without manual selection, whenever a Final Mile tariff rate is chosen.
 -
Exceptions:
-
Overlength Accessorials: These are applied to both the Final Mile Rate and the LTL Linehaul Rate.
 - Terminal Required Appointment: This has a unique workflow where the Terminal can state Required Appointment Delivery, which will force LTL to rate with Appointment - Delivery.

 -

Step 5 – Save and Review the Shipment
When you save the shipment, the TMS automatically adds a Final Mile Delivery Leg and displays:
-
Pickup Location
 -
Terminal Stop
 -
Final Delivery Point
 - Ready Date / Times are based on the LTL's Transit Days and the Open / Close Times at the Terminal Address.
 -
An Alert labeled “Final Mile” will be added to the shipment to designate it as a Final Mile Shipment.
