Recurring Schedule Trigger for Workflow Automation
Use the Recurring schedule trigger to run a workflow on a set interval (every 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes) on the days and hours you choose.
What this doesThe Recurring schedule trigger runs a workflow automatically on a repeating interval — every 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes — instead of at one fixed clock time. You choose how often it runs, which days of the week it is active, and an optional daily time window during which it is allowed to fire.
- Run time-sensitive automations (like checking for carrier updates or sending recurring notifications) without setting up a separate trigger for every clock time.
- Limit runs to the days and hours that matter — for example, every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Existing time-based schedules keep working exactly as before; nothing you have already set up needs to be changed.
Before you start — what you need first
- You need permission to create or edit Workflow Automations in your organization (Operations / Admin or System Administrator access).
- The Recurring option is part of the Scheduler trigger. If you do not see it, it may not yet be enabled for your account — contact support to confirm availability.
- Decide in advance how often the workflow should run, which days it should be active, and whether it should only run during certain hours.
How to add a Recurring schedule to a workflow
Where to go: Back Office → Workflow Automation → create or edit a workflow → choose the Scheduler trigger.
- In the Scheduler trigger, open the Frequency (type) dropdown and choose Recurring.
- The recurring fields — Run Every, Active Days, and the daily time window — appear once Recurring is selected.
How to set how often it runs (Run Every)
Where to go: Scheduler trigger → Frequency = Recurring → Run Every.
- Set Run Every to the interval you want: every 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
- 15 minutes is the shortest interval available. There is no option for intervals shorter than 15 minutes.
How to choose which days it runs (Active Days)
Where to go: Scheduler trigger → Frequency = Recurring → Active Days.
- Use the Active Days toggles to pick the days of the week (Monday through Sunday) the workflow should run.
- Each day toggles independently, so you can choose any combination — for example, weekdays only, or just Monday and Thursday.
- The workflow only runs on the days you turn on.
How to limit it to certain hours (Daily Start Time and Daily End Time)
Where to go: Scheduler trigger → Frequency = Recurring → Daily Start Time / Daily End Time.
- The daily time window is optional. Leave both blank to let the workflow run at its interval all day on active days.
- To restrict it, set a Daily Start Time and Daily End Time — the workflow only fires when the current time is inside that window on an active day.
- The two fields work as a pair: if you set one, the other becomes required. Save will prompt you if only one is filled in.
Tips & best practices
- Start with the longest interval that still meets your need (for example, hourly rather than every 15 minutes) to keep runs predictable and avoid unnecessary activity.
- If the automation only matters during business hours, set a Daily Start and End Time so it does not run overnight or on weekends.
- Recurring run times may vary by a few minutes from the exact interval — plan for "about every 30 minutes," not to-the-second timing.
What is the shortest interval I can choose?
The shortest interval is every 15 minutes. The available options are 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes; anything shorter than 15 minutes is not offered.
Do my existing scheduled workflows still work after this change?
Yes. Workflows that use the existing specific-time schedule continue to run exactly as before — nothing needs to be re-created or re-configured.
What happens if I set a start time but not an end time?
The end time becomes required. Once you choose a Daily Start Time, you must also set a Daily End Time (and vice versa) before the schedule can be saved.
Will the workflow run if no Active Days are selected?
The workflow only runs on the days you turn on under Active Days, so make sure at least the days you want are toggled on before saving.
Does the workflow run exactly on the interval?
It runs on approximately the interval you set. Exact timing can shift by a few minutes, so a run scheduled near 10:30 may occur slightly later.
If something doesn't work- If the schedule will not save, check that you have set both a Daily Start Time and Daily End Time, or cleared both.
- If the workflow is not firing, confirm the day is turned on under Active Days and that the current time is within your daily window.
- If the Recurring option is missing from the Frequency dropdown, it may not be enabled for your account yet — contact support to confirm.
- If runs still do not appear as expected after checking the above, contact support with the workflow name and the schedule settings you configured.
