Tai is Modernizing Shipment Editing for a Faster, Smarter Workflow
We’re excited to introduce inline editing, a major step forward in how shipment updates are managed across the TMS. This isn’t just a one-off enhancement; it’s part of a broader shift toward a faster, more seamless user experience, aligned with what you’d expect from leading SaaS platforms. With inline editing, core shipment fields are now editable directly within the page, no need to switch to the legacy Edit Record page or wait through full-page reloads. Changes are saved instantly, giving your team faster updates, fewer conflicts, and a smoother workflow.
Why It Matters
- The Edit Record workflow uses a comprehensive save process, reviewing every shipment field, even those that haven’t changed.
- Inline editing only updates what you need, reducing overhead and significantly improving performance.
- The Rating section will be supported soon, completing the full inline editing experience.

How It Works
Anywhere you see editable shipment data, you can:
-
Click on the field you want to change.
-
The text becomes an input box you can type in.
-
Click outside the box to save automatically, or use the ✔ or ✖ icons to save or cancel.
You’ll notice this in several key areas of the shipment page.
Where You Can Use In-Line Editing
Shipment References
You can now add or edit reference numbers right on the page.
-
Click “Add Reference Numbers” in the Shipment References panel.
-
Choose from Custom or Standard Reference Numbers.
-
The new number appears instantly, and you can edit it in place.
-
When you’re done, click away or confirm with ✔ to save.
This saves you from having to open a separate edit screen every time you need to add or adjust a reference number.

Notes and Instructions
Update pickup or delivery instructions on the fly.
You can edit notes directly in these areas:
-
Origin Stop Notes and Instructions
-
Destination Stop Notes and Instructions
-
Price Calculation Notes
-
Invoice Notes
Just click on the note, type your update, and click outside the field; it’ll save automatically.
This makes it easy to keep shippers, carriers, and accounting teams aligned with the latest details.

Commodities and Items to Ship
The Commodities and Items to Ship section is fully editable, allowing you to update important shipment details directly from the shipment detail page.
When shipment details change, like weight, pieces, trailer type, or dimensions, you can click directly on the value to edit it. The field will turn into an input box where you can make your changes, then either click away or confirm using the ✔ button to save. Use the ✖ button if you need to cancel.
Here’s what you can edit:
Commodity Details
-
Handling
-
Units
-
Pieces
-
Total Weight
-
Description
-
H.M. (Hazardous Material)
-
Length, Width, Height
When you click on a row, the entire commodity line opens up for quick edits.
Automatic calculations such as CBF (Cubic Feet) and PCF (Pounds per Cubic Foot) remain locked to prevent accidental changes. This setup makes it easy to correct entry mistakes or update dimensions while keeping calculated values accurate.
Items to Ship Details
-
Trailer Size
-
Trailer Type
-
Units (in/lbs)
-
Mileage
-
Linear Feet
You can adjust these fields in place just as easily, click, type, and your change saves automatically.
To protect shipment accuracy, certain key totals like Total Handling Units, Total Pieces, and Total Weight are read-only, since these are calculated by the system.
Together, these in-line editing tools make it simple for brokers to fine-tune shipment data quickly and confidently, all from one screen.

In Summary
In-Line Editing gives freight brokers a quicker, cleaner way to keep shipment data up to date.
It’s about saving time, reducing clicks, and staying efficient, especially when every minute matters in your day-to-day operations.
