Front - Tai App

Tai has an App that is available for download in the Front App Store. This app can help with the configuration of incoming emails, Application Objects, and Application Requests.

Setup Steps

Get API Key in Tai

Before you get started in Front, create a new Public Authentication Key in the TMS. You can do this by navigating to LSP and then selecting Public Authentication Keys.

  1. Click on the green "Add Public Authentication Key" button in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Choose your LSP Organization.
  3. Choose a LSP Staff that they key will be associated with. This will determine the shipment visibility of your requests so this should likely be someone with access to all of your customers and shipments.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button in the lower right corner of the modal to create your key.

After creating your key you should see a record on the "Public Authentication Keys" results table. You can click on the "copy" icon to the right to copy the API Key to your clipboard. Next you'll move over to Front.

Enable Tai App in Front App Store

Next you'll need to access your Front account with administrative privileges to enable the Tai App from the Front App Store.

  1. Click on the settings icon in the top right corner of the menu bar.
  2. Click on "App Store" in the left-side menu under the "Company" category.

Next you'll need to search the App Store for the Tai App.

  1. Type "Tai" into the search bar in the top right corner.
  2. Click the "See details" button in the Tai Software App card found in the search results.

Inside the details of the Tai App you'll see some screenshots and descriptions of what the App offers. In order to enable the app for your Front account click the blue "Enable app" button in the top right corner of the page.

Once enabled you'll be redirected to the App configuration. You'll see a warning that says authentication is required. Click the "Sign in" button on the right side of the page.

This is where you will enter the Tai API Key that you obtained in the first steps of this guide.

  1. Enter the API Key obtained from Tai.
  2. Click the blue "Save" button in the bottom right corner to save your key.

If the API key is saved successfully you should see a green "Enabled" badge on the top right of the page near the app name and "Active" under the status column. Congratulations, you now have access to the Tai App in Front.

Configure the Rule for your Application Object

The first thing to do after enabling your app is to configure the rule for the application object to identify shipment ids in your messages.

  1. On the left-side menu click on "Rules and Macros" under the company category.
  2. Then note that you have "Rules" tab selected.
  3. Click on the blue "Create rule" button to begin configuring your rule.

In the Rules templates modal, scroll down to the connect section and click on the template for the Tai Connector - Shipment Identification.

  1. The first thing you need to do is name your rule. We recommend "Tai Shipment Identification".
  2. Then ensure the Rule is enabled.
  3. Last, click the blue "Create" button to create your rule.

Once your rule is created. The system will begin identifying Tai Shipment Ids in your messages and displaying relevant shipment details in Front. You should continue configuration by setting up a Macro.

Configure the Macro for your Application Request

Next we'll setup the macro that is required for our built-in Application Request. This will allow you update a shipment status from within a message just by clicking a button.

  1. On the left-side menu click on "Rules and Macros" under the company category.
  2. Then click on the "Macros" tab.

You likely won't have any Macros created yet so click on the blue "Create macro" button.

 

  1. You can scroll down to or click on "Connect".
  2. Then select one of the Tai Connector templates to begin creating your macro from the Tai App template.

Next you'll confirm by clicking the blue "Use this template" button in the bottom right of the modal.

 

  1. From the macro create page, click on the "Settings" tab near the top.
  2. Next add a name for your macro. We recommend "Update Shipment Status".
  3. Then add a description for your macro. We recommend "Update the status of the identified shipment.".
  4. Last, click the blue "Create" button int he bottom right corner of the page.

That's it for the Application Request Macro. This is now ready to be used in any of your messages.

Shipment Identification and Status Update

Once the Rules and Macros have been setup you can test the Application Objects and Requests used to identify shipments, get shipment details, and update shipment statuses.

  1. This badge will appear when a shipment Id from Tai has been identified in your message. You can hover over this badge to view some shipment details.
  2. The shipment Id will also be highlighted within the message.
  3. This button will be used to activate your Macro and update the status of the shipment identified in the message.
