How to Activate Your DAT REST API Integration

This article explains how to activate your DAT REST API integration. It covers the information you’ll need to include when emailing DAT Support, the requirement for a dedicated Service Account email, and what happens once DAT sets up the account.

Step 1: Email DAT Support

Send an email to techsupportteamleads@dat.com providing the following information:

  • Your Company Name

  • Main Contact (name and phone number)

  • Unique Identifier (e.g., MC number, business address, or other identifier)

  • Integration Service & Interface: Specify REST API

  • Service Account Email (see Step 2 below for guidance)

Step 2: Set Up a Service Account Email

DAT requires a dedicated email address to create the Service Account. This email should:

  • Not already be in use by a DAT user

  • Be something simple, like:

    • datserviceaccount@yourcompany.com

    • admin@yourcompany.com (a group/shared mailbox)

Important: After creating the Service Account, DAT will send you a confirmation email with instructions on generating a password. This email and password combination will be used to authenticate your system with DAT’s REST API, and it only needs to be done once for your entire organization.

  • Access your DAT integration source
  • Add a new source setting called Version = REST

  • Password = Service Account password
  • Account number = Service Account email
