This article explains how to activate your DAT REST API integration. It covers the information you’ll need to include when emailing DAT Support, the requirement for a dedicated Service Account email, and what happens once DAT sets up the account.
Step 1: Email DAT Support
Send an email to techsupportteamleads@dat.com providing the following information:
-
Your Company Name
-
Main Contact (name and phone number)
-
Unique Identifier (e.g., MC number, business address, or other identifier)
-
Integration Service & Interface: Specify REST API
-
Service Account Email (see Step 2 below for guidance)
Step 2: Set Up a Service Account Email
DAT requires a dedicated email address to create the Service Account. This email should:
-
Not already be in use by a DAT user
-
Be something simple, like:
-
datserviceaccount@yourcompany.com
-
admin@yourcompany.com
(a group/shared mailbox)
-
Important: After creating the Service Account, DAT will send you a confirmation email with instructions on generating a password. This email and password combination will be used to authenticate your system with DAT’s REST API, and it only needs to be done once for your entire organization.
