DAT

This article describes Tai's integration with DAT.

Supported DAT Integrations

  • Loadboard
  • RateView
  • Equipment Search
  • Onboard
  • Carrier Watch
  • Get Rate Quote
  • DAT Contributions

Note: DAT allows one account per user, so each LSP staff member must have their own account to access the services provided by DAT.

Integration Set Up for First-Time Users

If you’re setting up this integration for the first time, click  HERE for step-by-step instructions.

Editing Source Settings

Every time you reset your password or want to add services from DAT, like the ones described above, you'll need to access the source settings and follow the instructions we have for each service. You can access the source settings from LSP> Integration sources> select the DAT user you would like to update from the source description> Select Edit Source, and from there make the modifications you require, like changing the password.

Loadboard Posting Instructions

  1. Username
  2. Password
  3. Source Setting - Staffid = xxxxx (where xxxxx = the staff member's ID number from the LSP Staff page)
    1. Note: DAT is very strict about this and limits the integration to be visible only by the assigned user.
  4. Optional - Source Setting - includecontractrate = true, or includespotrate = true, or includemyrate = true

DAT will provide the username and password after the Connexion license has been set up. To obtain these credentials, send a request to techsupportteamleads@dat.com and indicate that you would like to set up an integration with the Tai TMS. If successful, it will store two tokens along with a token expiration date in the Source Settings section. This will occur after the first loadboard posting is done. The tokens will auto-refresh after the expiration date/time.

Note: When posting we use our ShipmentID as the Poster Reference ID, however DAT only stores up to 8 Characters Max, so we omit the first number.

Example: ShipmentID#113555222 will translate on DAT as 13555222

RateView Instructions

  1. Same as Loadboard Instruction
  2. Add a Source Setting - rateview = true
  3. Source Setting - Staffid = xxxxx (where xxxxx = the staff members ID number from the LSP Staff page)
    1. Note: DAT is very strict about this and limits the integration to be visible only by the assigned user.
  4. Optional - Source Setting - includecontractrate = true, or includespotrate = true, or includemyrate = true

Data will be available on the Truckload Quoting page. Next to the Rate Intelligence section, data will be pulled in from DAT when available. The query parameters are set based on state/city and also based on the trailer type.

To provide an accurate lane average rate, we attempt to map the trailer type selected on the shipment with the trailer type on DAT. However, some trailer types may not exist on DAT or Tai so it would default to a generic one, typically Van.

For all the details on the mapping, please visit Trailer Type to Load Posting mappings

Equipment Search Instructions

  1. Same as Loadboard Instruction
  2. Source Setting - Staffid = xxxxx (where xxxxx = the staff members ID number from the LSP Staff page)
    1. Note: DAT is very strict about this and limits the integration to be visible only by the assigned user.
  3. Source Setting - originsearchradius = XXX miles (default 100)
  4. Source Setting - destinationsearchradius = XXX miles (default 100)
  5. Source Setting - postingagelimit= XXX minutes (default 90 )

This will compare the origin/destination/trailer type and populate the truckload quoting list with available carriers. This will also return phone/email information that will be useful for contacting the carriers. Note: The phone/email doesn't necessarily need to be saved to the LSP Carrier in order to still use them.

Onboard Instructions

  1. Same as Loadboard Instruction (not staff specific)
  2. Source Setting - onboard = true
  3. Note: Typically, the onboard credentials will be different than Loadboard. Please clarify with DAT tech support.

This will pull data back into the TMS every 10 minutes (changes) and all new information. This job runs in conjunction with the Carrier Watch service.

  • Contract Signed
    • Will attach the contract PDF to the attachments section for the LSP Carrier
  • Insurance Agent Updates
    • Will create or update LSP Carrier Insurance
  • Tax Information Updates
    • Will update Tax ID in the LSP Carrier Profile
  • Document Updates
    • Will attach any file as a document in the LSP Carrier Profile

Carrier Watch Instructions

  1. Username
  2. Password
  3. Source Setting - carrierwatch = true
  4. ftpusername
  5. ftppassword

Every night,  a file will be submitted to DAT with all available carriers. DAT will run a job on their end and place a file with any information relevant to the carrier.

On the LSP Carrier Profile page, a Sync Carrier Data button is available, and they can, on-demand, pull the Insurance Certificate (attachment) and Insurance Details. This is more for an a la carte service.

DAT Contributions

DAT Contributions are the shipment and cost details that the TMS sends to DAT One to enhance freight market intelligence. Contributing your load data allows DAT to incorporate your transactions into its benchmarking tools (like DAT iQ Benchmark). This enables your organization to compare its pricing and performance against the broader market.

To enable this feature, update your DAT integration source settings and set Contributions = True. Once enabled, your load and cost data will be automatically shared with DAT for inclusion in their benchmarking ecosystem.
