ExFreight Rating: Multi-Class Shipment Support

ExFreight now rates multi-class LTL shipments by combining them into a single density-based freight class so you can get a quote.

What this does

ExFreight only accepts one freight class per quote, so a shipment with items in different classes used to fail to rate. TAI now calculates a single overall class from the shipment's combined density and sends that one class to ExFreight, so the quote returns instead of erroring.

Before you start — what you need first

• ExFreight (EFXT) must be set up as a rating integration on your organization. If you do not see ExFreight in your rate results, contact support to confirm the integration is connected.
• Enter accurate weight and dimensions for each line item. The overall class is derived from density, so wrong dimensions or weight will produce the wrong class and an inaccurate rate. [ASSUMPTION — confirm exact required fields]

How to rate a multi-class shipment through ExFreight

Where to go: Build the LTL shipment or quote as you normally would, enter all line items with their classes, weights, and dimensions, then run rating. [ASSUMPTION — confirm exact rating screen path]

• Run rating. For ExFreight, TAI combines the items into one overall density-based class behind the scenes and requests the quote with that single class.
• Review the returned ExFreight rate alongside your other carrier rates and book as usual.

• Double-check each item's weight and dimensions before rating. Density drives the calculated class, and the carrier may re-class and re-bill if the freight does not match.

Why did my multi-class shipment fail to rate with ExFreight before?

ExFreight only allows one freight class per quote, so a shipment containing more than one class was rejected. TAI now collapses those classes into a single overall density class before sending the request, so the quote can return.

How is the single class chosen?

The class is based on the shipment's overall density (pounds per cubic foot) using the Alternate Class Estimator Density Scale — the same density-to-class logic shown in the class estimator article.

Does this change the class shown on my shipment?
