Use the Add Carrier Label workflow action to automatically tag a carrier's profile when a shipment event meets your rules.

What this does

Add Carrier Label is a Workflow Automation action that applies a label to a carrier's profile automatically whenever the conditions you set in a workflow are met. Instead of opening each carrier profile to tag it by hand, you let the workflow do it the moment a shipment-level event qualifies.

• Group carriers automatically based on how they perform or what they haul (for example, late pickups, reefer loads, or high-value freight).
• Cut out manual steps so your team spends less time tagging carriers and more time moving freight.
• Keep carrier labels current so the downstream work that relies on them — filtering for load assignments, rate analysis, and carrier searches — stays accurate.

Before you start — what you need first

• You need access to Workflow Automation in the Back Office and permission to create or edit workflows.
• You should already have the carrier label you want to apply. Labels are created and managed under the LSP tab. To learn how, see Carrier Labels.
• Decide which shipment event or carrier behavior should trigger the label so you can build the right trigger and filters. [ASSUMPTION — confirm]

How to add the Add Carrier Label action to a workflow

Where to go: Back Office → Workflow Automation → create or open a workflow → Actions.

• Build your trigger and any filters first so the workflow only fires when the right shipment or carrier event happens.
• In the Actions step, choose Add Carrier Label from the list of available actions.
• Select the label you want the workflow to apply to the carrier. Make sure the label already exists — create it under the LSP tab first if it does not.
• Save the workflow. From then on, when a shipment meets the conditions, the system applies that label to the carrier's profile automatically.

How to confirm the label was applied

Where to go: LSP → LSP Carriers → open the carrier → Edit Carrier Labels.

• Open the carrier the workflow acted on and check the labels listed on the profile.
• You can also filter your LSP Carrier List by label to see every carrier the workflow has tagged.

Tips & best practices

• We recommend naming labels by the behavior or segment they represent (for example, "Late Pickup" or "Reefer") so the carriers a workflow groups are easy to act on later.
• Use specific filters so a workflow only labels carriers when the event truly qualifies, rather than tagging too broadly.
• Reuse existing labels rather than creating near-duplicates, since labels are shared across all carriers.

Frequently asked questions

Can a workflow create a brand-new carrier label?

The action applies an existing label to a carrier, so create the label first under the LSP tab; then select it inside the workflow's Add Carrier Label action. [ASSUMPTION — confirm]

Does adding a label through a workflow remove other labels on the carrier?

No — adding a label keeps any labels the carrier already has; the action adds to the profile rather than replacing what is there. [ASSUMPTION — confirm]

If something doesn't work

• If the label was not applied, confirm the workflow's trigger and filters actually matched the shipment event, and that the workflow is active.
• Confirm the label you selected still exists and has not been renamed, merged, or deleted under the LSP tab.
• If the action is missing from the Actions list, your account may not have it enabled — contact TAI Support.
• If everything looks correct and the label still is not applied, contact TAI Support with the workflow name and an example shipment.
